Copper solvent extraction reagents

Copper extractants for acidic leach solutions, dilute pregnant liquors and wash stages in solvent extraction–electrowinning circuits.

Copper circuits are usually specified from the leach liquor composition, copper tenor and transfer target per stage.

Process context

Where the reagent sits in the circuit

  1. 01

    Leach solution

Copper is loaded from acidic pregnant leach solution after heap, dump or concentrate leaching.

  2. 02

    Extraction and stripping

Loaded organic is stripped with spent electrolyte before the rich electrolyte returns to electrowinning.

  3. 03

    Wash and recovery

Interstage wash limits chloride and iron carry-over; organic recovery follows the final stage.

Questions

Before you specify

  • What information do you need to recommend a reagent?

The feed assay (metal tenor and main impurities), acidity, the stage where the reagent will work, and the target strip liquor or product specification. A flowsheet sketch helps but is not required for a first recommendation.

  • Can one model cover several metals?

Some phosphoric ester and phosphinic acid reagents work across nickel, cobalt, vanadium and rare earth circuits, but the loading window is set per application. A model that suits one separation may need a different acidity or modifier in another.

  • How are samples shipped?

Sample quantity and packing are agreed against the trial scope, then shipped with handling information. Documentation follows the destination country and the carrier requirements.

Include the copper tenor, acidity and the main competing ions. A model recommendation follows from those values.
